CODE OF CONDUCT & PARTICIPATION CONTRACT
I wish to participate in Wolcott Youth Lacrosse activities for the season. As a participant in such play, I pledge to:
Learn the rules of lacrosse so that I may be a better player, coach, and fan.
Encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating only positive support for all players, coaches, and officials at every event.
Support the drug, alcohol and tobacco-free environment that is important for all youth sporting events.
Make only supportive comments to all players, coaches, and officials.
Remember the field is a classroom and everyone is learning.
Focus on the fun and the participation.
RESPECT:
I will never use profanity at an event.
I will never criticize the coaches, players, or officials.
I will never touch an opposing player, coach, or game official in a threatening manner.
I will show respect to my team, my coaches, game officials and myself.
Respect means following direction for drills in a constructive manner.
Respect means understanding that you win or lose as a team not as an individual.
Respect means you do not criticize your fellow teammates, coaches opposing players or referees. I understand that showing disrespect can lead to less playing time and potentially dismissal from the Club.
COMMITMENT TO LEARN AND PLAY THE GAME AS IT WAS MEANT TO BE PLAYED:
I will learn the game of Lacrosse as it was meant to be played.
Learning the game means giving 100% in every practice on the fundamentals of the game and strategies to be competitive. When at practices or games I will put away all outside distractions like cell phones, etc. and focus 100% on coaching instruction and/or the game. I will make all practices and games or make every effort to contact my coach(es) 24 hours ahead of time on a need for missing a practice or game. I understand that unexcused absences from practices and games can lead to less playing time and potentially dismissal from the Club. Excused absences include Academic Functions (not social events), Illness requiring the player to miss school, School Suspension / Detention or religious functions.
I understand that excessive technical fouls in game situations only lead to less playing time for me as a player and less competitiveness for my team as a whole. I will make every effort to play the game as it was meant to be played and learn skills that help me play without needing to create these situations. Unsportsmanlike fouls including but not limited to illegal body checks, head to head contact, arguing with referees or fighting will lead to less playing time and potentially dismissal from the Club. Any dismissal from a team at any point in the season results in the forfeiture of your enrollment fee.
I understand the terms and conditions of playing Lacrosse under Wolcott Youth Lacrosse Club. My acknowledgment by checking off this box indicates that my parent/legal guardian and I have a desire to participate with respect and passion for the game and not violate this code.
The acknowledgment through choosing to accept this indicates that the guardian and player have read and agreed to this Code of Conduct and know that the consequences of violating one of these rules include ejection from an event and possible dismissal from the team. The Wolcott Youth Lacrosse Club Board of Directors will be notified of the dismissal or ejection. The player has the right to appear before the Board to describe the circumstances and appeal the decision.
